I think I could read more of Anne Gavalda

Cyrille Fleischmann’s story was a curious and cozy one. Might read more of this style, although it doesn’t click with me as much as the previous story’s style.

Annie Saumont’s story was a pleasant surprise. Might want to read more of her.

Oh dear. The next one was not for me either.

Réda’s Rue du Commerce just made me want to read Zola even more…

Unfortunately, I found Daeninickx’s story difficult…

Andrée Chedid’s story was great. Must read more of him.

Grenier’s story was not to my taste.

I might read more Georges Perec, but I loved Mayes Condé even more. Her story was more moving.

Really enjoyed Maryse Conde’s story! Need to read more of her!

I might want to read some more Julien Green…

Leon-Paul’s story was just a well-written sketch…

I got some sense of being in a train station, but I just didn’t vibe with this story or its style (even though the latter works to give one a sense of place…)

I enjoyed Colette’s writing here. May need to read more of her as well.

Another Maupassant. Well, he’s a talented writer.

Really enjoyed Zola’s “Squares”! I like him better than Balzac! “…the mangy patches of green under the Tour Saint Jacques are hardly sufficient to provide one dinner for a flock of sheep.” 41.

Balzac’s “The Last Napoleon” was too short to fully resonate with me, but the ending was ok, and I will be reading more of Balzac.

Gérard de Nerval’s “The Green Monster” reminded me a bit of Angela Carter (but not as good) and barely had any Paris (the City) in it. Not to my taste.

Really enjoyed Guy De Maupassant’s writing in the first story, “Nightmare.” (There’s a reason a fuller collection of his short stories is on my TBR.) I got just a tiny taste of Paris in this one. Hoping for more.
