Just finished what is possibly the hardest edged story in this anthology: Atomic Supernova .

Fast draw sheriff & his deputy show up unexpected at a pair of brothers’ semi-legit scrap metal business where they tear apart used vehicles, machinery, broken down heavy equipment like ‘dozers etc.
The narrator got into a scrap back east where he was set up by bent narcs & killed 4 crooked cops. Fast draw style

This is a reread. I bought an ARC at a library sale in Woodstock about five years ago.
Wolven’s still getting a lot of attention from critics over short stories taken from this anthology. He’s also published some lauded noir shorts available on Kindle originally and picked up by good ol’ Otto Penzler for a few “best of the year” anthologies.
