The book is good as an orienteering companion to larger textbooks or as an intro for beginners. It’s an accessible read and successfully condenses key material. I don’t love the descriptions of several artists and came across a few timeline or biographical errors. Only bothered by the failure to include debated Altamira cave dates, which could move the book’s dating of the first paintings back by 20k years
