Bloated, repetitive and fundamentally unconvincing. Unsure if I want to slog on with this one. It's not the contents of this collection of essays which justify its denial of life but the very experience of Ligotti meandering across each page paired with the looming sense that he's wasting my time.

Took me forever to finally properly sit down with this one and now that I have I am starting to regret it. Bloated, so repetitive and largely unconvincing when it comes to arguing the ideas central to this text. Gonna get to page 130 but if nothing changes I'm gonna put this one down as nothing arouses my pessimism towards life moreso than the suspicion that I am allowing Ligotti to waste mine.
