I must close my eyecovers now and rest my brain box from the why-whys.
Yeesh. I wish I was making this up. Eyecovers. Brain box. Why-whys. All part of the Wild Ones' language. And yet "sequin" is in their vernacular. HOW?
Argh.

"Don't be heartsad," Water said to Laura. "If Spellhorn has longings to take you to the Wilderness, you'll come." She shivered, hugging herself against the cold. "Now dash down, Girlchild. This wind has biting teeth. Scuttle down to cave dens before it nips off your hear hole flaps."
Urgh. I feel like shutting my see-orb flaps against this, and blocking it's content from my mind hole (they really say mind hole).

Meh so far. The speech of the Wild Ones is jarringly awful. I'm not even a linguist, but, yuck.
Pretty sure I shelved this and sought it out on one of my Wild Hunt kicks. I still can't tell if this qualifies for my Listopia list. Maybe...

Me, perusing massive backlog of TBR: "Ooh, The Amulet of Samarkand! Oh. It's 476 pages, and book 1 of a trilogy. Spellhorn is 132 quick and painless pages..."
I avoid thick books. I shouldn't, but... well, is it just me? Fear of commitment? Love of brevity?
There are a lot of thick books on my shelves, and many trilogies. I need help getting into them.
Or maybe people should just go back to writing short standalones.
