"Wife" presents a world in which a women is trying to fit into her assigned role as wife. Though it's a bleak society with little to no freedom, the story manages to be subtly hopeful.

"Surface Dweller" was the most unexpected story so far, involving a woman who goes home with an art student who has a frightening secret hidden in her bedroom. It's speculative where the rest of the stories are not.

"Reflection" about a woman facing a potential confrontation with her abusive ex-boyfriend was compelling for the most part, but I hated the ending.

While "Night Scape" is a good story, I didn't connect with it as much as the first two.

In "Aside" an estranged mother and daughter try to find connection on a car ride. Very bitter sweet.

"Angel" was a surprising and powerful story about a young man who passed time time begging for change he doesn't need. Did not go how I expected.
