The book is engaging and a page turner for most part. I was really into it till it discussed the Lisbon floods. Once it moved past 1700s and reached the 1800s and the present modern era, it switches to a western centric narrative of global history. The birth of UN and other such organisations are clearly an indication of how the rest of the world was mere playground for the west.

Alarm callers decline within groups due to fitness costs, but groups with more callers survive better, supporting Hamilton’s inclusive fitness. Wilson’s group selection suggests these groups thrive, contributing more to future generations. So, while alarm caller frequency drops within each group, their total number

Intra-groups (within groups)
Multi-level selection

Multilevel selection (MLS) theory is a framework that explains how selection can occur at multiple levels of biological organization, including groups and individuals. It's an extension of natural selection theory and is used to explain the evolution of prosocial traits, which are traits that benefit others or the group as a whole.
