jfghhh its so annoying when MC is ANNOYING. I thought being a detective requires some SKILLS. This girl is 30ish yr old detective with so much issues that are really affecting the way she acts and works. Its so annoying

This book is giving Silence of the Lambs vibes with a romance between a black cat detective heroine and a golden retriever red-headed psycho anti-hero in an MC and I’m completely digging it.

When you start hating every book you pick up, you go to a trusted author to rescue you. Lauren Gilley has never let me down!

Even though we follow basically totally new characters (they had a tiny role in the last Dartmoor book) I’m SO INTO THIS! This reads a bit like a police procedural tv show meets Nora Roberts-style romantic suspense in the best way possible. I don’t even care that the MMC’s called Pongo (yes, after the Dalmatian)!

I can already tell I’ve got a 5 star read here! The mystery, the raw telling is incredible. If you have not read Lauren Gilley’s work before I highly recommend you check her out. Her books are not fluffy romances - yes there is a little romance - but the writing and complex story lines are amazing. Any book of hers is worth a look. I’ve read almost all of them 😃
