I believe this may be representing a conversation between Ronit and God. A representation of her rediscovering her relationship with him and redefining what her religion means to her, creating a better relationship with it. She is achieving that skill of listening. (While still knowing it is with her religious right to disobey the words of god that she hears).

The last 2 chapters instead contain 3rd-person then Ronit 1st-person THEN another 3rd-person and Ronit 1st-person section. And preceding this structural change is Ronit saying she is now learning the skill of listening and quiet.
Put together, this structural change to me represents a conversation. A back and forth of talking and listening. Since this back-and-forth is with a 3rd-person perspective, I believe.. cont

In the final two chapters, the structure slightly changes. It is not just one third person section (which I always thought was Esti’s POV section but didn’t realise until the end that it’s just general third person about everyone-other-than-inside-Ronit’s brain. God?) followed one Ronit-POV section.

So far, without this book having really got into the love plot yet, it mostly seems like a book for people on the cusp of religion, those raised in deeply religious communities who question some of the traditions and beliefs. I do not fall into this category, I scoff at the fairytales masquerading as ancient ‘knowledge’ intended to rule people’s lives.

The amount of support for Israel in this book is making it very hard to approach it with an open mind.
“And of course you get the self-haters, the ‘Israel is evil’ brigade. Self-loathing is an equal opportunity employer, after all.”
