Washington didn’t have children of his own, but raise 2 of Martha’s kids through marriage. Patsy, one of the children, passed from epilepsy at age 17, leaving Martha with what George calls it “ an ebb of misery that never left her”.

This is the closest I've ever been to not finishing a book in time for bookclub. My hopes lie on my toddler's naptime. Only 17 pages left.
