It's his family's story, but you'll get quite a bit of historical context. I'd recommend it for understanding what's going on.

I'm not too far in. Already this is good. As you would expect it's a memoir in narrative style, but there are also historical details that you might not pick up elsewhere. He describes the cooperation and welcoming of Palestinians to Jewish "villagers" next to theirs before 1948 and now he's describing the betrayal- the village was placed there 2× before that but failed & its strategic importance to Zionism/Nakba.
