Myung-gi has guts!! Abruptly, Myung-gi rose to his feet. “I’m going outside.” “What? You can’t be serious. No! I’m not letting you.” Haewon stood in front of the door, her thin arms splayed out like tree branches. “Don’t worry,” Myung-gi said, trying to sound reassuring. “They won’t see me come out of your house. I’ll sneak around back.”

Yoomee is braver than me 😆 “So...” Yoomee said, leaning forward, her tone turning serious. “Do you know how to play that thing?” “The piano? Yes, I do,” Haewon said, warily. “How much for a lesson?” “Oh, I don’t give lessons.” “Why not? Aren’t you any good?” “Yoomee!” Myung-gi said, his voice sharp and scolding. Sometimes she had no manners.

Dang! I love this grandma! “The grandmother shook her head. “No, Haewon and I have been on our own for twelve years. Before that I had been taken care of all my life by my well-to-do parents, my businessman husband, my professor son. But when tossed into the deep end of the ocean, you start kicking to the surface. I’ve found ways to manage—and I survive on my own.”
