the story is making me giggle because it reminds me of my mom’s family, but the panels are SO crowded. it’s all great stuff and beautiful colors and quirky captions, but it’s hard to read a lot in one sitting because it’s so busy

This book is effortlessly funny. I've read children graphic novels like Dog Man where it's like, what kid isn't going to laugh at this joke? But the humor in Mexikid is rooted in what it is to being a second generation Hispanic/Latino and seeing the world of those before you through an American lens. It's way too relatable. I can't wait to wrap this up.

Gosh, Martin’s upbringing is so relatable. I’m so glad a book like this exists for all the second/third generation Latinos that are growing up nowadays.
