Status Updates From Meddling with Madness

51/332 DNF 9/20/24 I’m sad it was good till it wasn’t.

“Didn’t Alice from times past have many lovers?” Rook questions.

I laugh when he grabs onto me and pulls me closer. His nose is against my neck now as he takes a deep inhale. “Spaydz above…” Dee groans again.
“Does she not smell delicious?” I pull away and give Dee a toothy grin.
“You’re right. She does smell familiar in a way. Not from this time, but maybe from a time before?” Dee questions.
“A time before?” Rab asks.

Then I remember I rubbed myself all over Alyce earlier. Smiling widely, I jump up and run over to Dee. “Smell me!”

Dee’s brows knit together briefly before he shrugs. I grin. This male never questions my crazy, odd behavior. He shifts to smell the crook of my neck and lets out a groan.

“Like roses.” I watch as everyone cringes at the thought. “No, not like the roses here. Like what they used to smell like but softer and with a touch of sweetness.” The guys around me still look unconvinced, and I let out a frustrated mewl. Trying to think of a way to get them to understand, I look around the group of males.

I look over to Rab and watch as he raises a brow. I sigh then answer his silent question, “I don’t know. There’s something about her that feels familiar. Like she belongs here. With Wonderland and with us. Plus the way she smells...” I purr when I remember her smell.
“What does she smell like?” Mor asks.

This was going so well until the insta love hit. The second hand embarrassment from this is a lot. And the interactions don’t feel real.

Shrugging, he releases my hand and settles down on a stump a few steps away from me. “I’m a cat. I’m naturally curious, and it hasn’t killed me yet.”

Chesh’s smile widens, and his canines show as he chuckles. “Sure. Is this another Surface being thing?”
I grin and reply, “Can we say it’s an Alyce thing?”
He hums. “I suppose as long as you explain the Alyce thing after. I’m very curious.”
“You know curiosity killed the cat,” I can’t help but tease.

His eyes are what I think are dark brown but could be mistaken for black in the shadow of his hat. I can see tufts of messy black hair peeking out from under his hat with the sides of his head trimmed short.
Chesh points in the male's direction. “That’s...” he starts, but before he can finish speaking I tug on his arm. He looks down at me in question.
“Can I guess who everyone is?” I ask.

Their eyes shift over to Chesh and then back to me. As if he can sense how nervous I am, Chesh squeezes my hand. “I suppose I’ll introduce you since no one has manners around here.”
I hear a gruff laugh and look in that direction to find a male wearing a black top hat with hat pins in it.

I smile. “Well, I cannot wait to meet these males who have so much muchiness.” He continues carrying me through the forest, and thankfully we don’t run into any more animals or things that want to kill us. I try to tamper the nervous buzz in my veins by thinking about meeting these other males. I feel this tug in my chest the closer we get. Like meeting these males is what I was always meant to do.

He shrugs as he says, “You’re not that heavy, and you’ll find that the males here are much more… muchier.”
“Muchier, you say?”
“Well, the males who I confide with have much muchiness. They fight against the Red Queen and are the most loyal males I have ever met. Many are… damaged, but they are brave. I am honored to call them friends and family.”

He nods, letting me know I got the name right. “Well, my species has been cursed by the Queen, which allows me to change forms, so I was able to free myself.” He gently maneuvers me so he can hold me as he stands from the ground. A surprised squeak escapes me, and he raises an eyebrow in question.
‘“Uhh… no one has ever been able to lift me like that before.”

My favorite has to be the reverse harem books, though. My favorite is a series by C. M. Stunich. She really had a way with the world, and I loved every moment of it, although many would say it was a little bloody. Well, shattering teacups, I hope I’m not in a Wonderland similar to that.

I squeal and whip around to find… nothing—hum… curiouser and curiouser. I slowly look back over to the mushrooms and see a smile. Would it be considered a smile if it's quite large and attached to nothing? I furrow my brows, thinking about all the Alice and Wonderland books I’ve read.

When my oldest brother turned eighteen, my dad left. He wasn't much of a father to me, but he loved his sons.

My mother was one of those who fell into madness. She thought she had beaten the curse when she had only had sons. When she got pregnant the third time, they didn't realize they were having twins. I was the surprise female. As soon as Alix and I were born, my mom fell into madness and had to be put in a mental institution.

According to tradition, the firstborn female of the firstborn female of the family line must be named Alice and carry the Liddell name.
Dreams of Wonderland pass from mother to daughter when she turns five. Sometimes the dreams are too much, and the mothers fall into madness, not believing that Wonderland is a real place but plagued with dreams of it night after night.

I look down at the phone, brows furrowed. My brothers hardly ever call me Alyce. It’s usually Little Sis or Aly. Shaking off that thought, I look up at myself in the mirror. With my long platinum blonde hair, bright blue eyes, blue blouse, and white skinny jeans, I look like a modern-day Alice. To me, that was the point. My family is said to be cursed due to something the original Alice Liddell did.
