Just finished the chapter on the Korean war and I knew so much of what was discussed after reading Bruce Cummings, but having the atrocities laid out so starkly next to remarks from Western leaders gleefully supporting the atrocities created a visceral reaction. I felt sick, genuinely couldn't breathe at how Abrams hammered home the scope of horror america accomplished, and how deliberate.

Despite the title the most interesting stuff here (imo) is about atrocities that were/are very real - analysis of what gets omitted (US war crimes) or misrepresented, and how that shapes metanarratives, is where this has been at its best so far. Pretty informative. The first Gulf War chapter is also particularly relevant now, depressingly so.
