Status Updates From The Incredible Shrinking Man

The man is shrinking, he doesn’t have Benjamin button disease. He would look like a man but smaller. Or… you know, someone with dwarfism. I’ve never seen an adult with dwarfism and thought, “Oh look, a child.”

But then again, I’ve never met an adult with dwarfism who pretended to be child, and Scott does often. It’s like his one, super fuckin’ weird move. Get scared, be a kid.

Sitting here realizing how strikingly similar this is to Elevation by Stephen King. I went back and checked, and both protagonists are named Scott Carey. I knew King was heavily influenced by Matheson, but I had no idea Elevation was essentially a modern, more optimistic take on The Shrinking Man.
