Okay, the first 2 or 3 chapters are insanely different and difficult to comprehend, I felt stupid.
Gene Wolfe chucks you into this world and you just have to trust your gut with it and keep reading. I'm on chapter 5 now and now I'm really enjoying it, albeit I had to be patient to get the ball rolling.
Also I'm pretty sure the MC is schizophrenic
