thus far, much more of a “straightforward” history than i expected. though—that may just be that the first chapter is about indigenous genocide in the americas, and that’s a lot of ground to cover. hoping it gets a little bit less stat-listy and more analytical in the chapters on labor and Pax Americana. i know what the patterns mean, but i like it when writers tell me about ‘em too, dammit!
