Welp, it had to end this way. Valeria's actor Rebecca Naomi Jones really nails the pathos, though; I was quite choked up. But overall the ending was too tidy, too saccharine, and honestly, too absurd, even for Marvel.

"Crossfire": in which Wastelanders jumps the shark. As the Cube becomes more unstable, it's anything goes! Our heroes can fly! Quill cracks a Punch'n'Judy joke! Cute mini-hulks! Mad Thinker sulks! 4-in-1 FF! Power-mad Valeria cackles evilly! The bite-ridden troll rises from the dead! Ok, not all of those. But at least Doom cuts his monologue short to get revenge for a change.

The shield is down! Well, the gang's back together sans one Old Man. Alas, he appears to have sacrificed for nothing, as Doom is back and stabbing and haughtily explaining Valeria's curious absence in round one of the Battle for the Cube. But at least we get to see Kate again, right? Also: Quill gets his voice back, and totally botches the "assemble" line, lol.

Quill, Logan, Natasha, and Clint enter the Cosmic Cube, but that's exactly what Valeria wants. Some nice flashbacks and pathos. These actors are absolutely nailing it.
