Cyborg "Booyah!":
Maybe I don't have some grand purpose. I can light my own way instead of looking for answers in the dark. I choose to be a beacon for those struggling with these same feelings. I can accept who I am, or I can let it consume me. I choose the former. I choose to be the best of both worlds. Not one over the other. That's acceptance. That's peace.

You think: the world's not fair, but maybe I can make it fair. Because someone has to.
You can be hungry for purpose. Starving for it, in fact. That goes for societies as well as individuals. The world always changes, no matter how hard some people try to hold back the tide.

Jo Mullein "Far Sector #5":
Something reminds you that the world is bigger than your problems. And you can wish for heroes to make everything right, but...Heroes show up when they show up. And sometimes they take too damn long. So you try to become your own hero. Make things right yourself. But sometimes you wonder: Are you really helping? Or just making things worse? So you try another way. And another.

Black Lightning "Separate but Equal":
"I'd like to believe that our capacity for love outweighs our capacity for hate...that our capacity for good outweighs our capacity for evil...that we will do our children justice...and justice, like lightning, should ever appear, to some people, HOPE, and to others, FEAR, the question you have to ask yourself is...which type of person are you?"

The thing about representation—it’s the responsibility of all who have the opportunity to populate narrative real estate to seal the deal when inviting audiences to participate.
