Status Updates From The Secret Science of Games

I’m enjoying the case studies the author is providing and it has enlightening me to some of the “behind the scenes” dilemmas that crop up in game design. Makes me much more aware and charitable when I think about critiquing a game.

Expanding on the previous percentage, I particularly enjoyed the discussion on the three forms of data researchers need and their importance. Then show to tailor the research study to get all three forms of data was extremely valuable.

A lot of discussion was had on the soft skills needed to be a research and how to build trust with teams which was also very valuable.

So far the book is rather interesting. I was making connections with how we apply agile methodologies at work and then the author just went right out and said some of those principles. Content wise it’s a tad repetitive chapter to chapter, so hopefully it shifts a bit as I progress through.
