Love these books so much!! It just keeps getting better and better.

That first chapter was intense!

6. Shemona= 5, non-verbal (elective muteisum)
- Maintains eye contact and watches the teacher
- Highly independent, according to aunt and uncle
- Cries at night but stops when someone comes to check on her
- Doesn't like being touched
- Does well with the numbers and chalk game (jumping and giggling)
(my other favorite kid)

5. Gerldine= 8, speaks for her sister (Shemona), (shares history with her sister) petrol bomb was thrown into their home (Northern Ireland), house caught on fire, dad rescued the girls (did matthew die in the fire or diffrent cuauses??), dad ended up killing himself and the girls now live with their aunt and uncle.

4. Shamie= 13, cousin of Geraldine and Shemona
- Uncle killed himself
- Bouts of depression, insomnia, and restlessness

3. Dirkie= 11, spent the majority of his life institutionalized, bad early childhood (abandonment, abuse, “bizarre family acts”), fostered by husband and wife psychologists, childhood schizophrenia, home home-schooled
- Fairly advanced compared to other schizophrenic children

2. Mariana= 8, borderline IQ, short attention span, overaggressive, percoucios sexual behavior
After 3 years at school cant read or write, but can do very basic math
“What are you going to give me now” (after “sharing” lifesavers) -> views friendship as something that requires equal give and receive or compensation from the friend

1. Leslie= 7, appeared to have no one inside her body". stares vacantly ahead, only acts when instructed, doesn't speak, not toilet trained, brittle diabetes (no reaction to injections), mixed diagnosis (autism, mental retardarion, childhood schizophrenia)

I’m reading this book for class and wanted to put my notes for it here
