Well, nevermind what I said short ago, it looks like I got my routine-breaking event! And now I really can't predict what's coming and I'm excited about it. Also: ouch!

getting a bit repetitive, usual loop of preparing for show, doing show, always chasing an higher and more dangerous goal, new characters, but overall lots of the same; mostly I have a hard time imaging this loop going on for 70% more, we'll see

The performances are already so intense and dangerous as it is, I can't even imagine how they'll get!! I'm still only at the start, how far can they go??

Lovely so far. The writing is such that you have to have full attention 100% of the time, so it's gonna take a while, but really cool so far. No empty words, no wasted words, everything is important.

You really start to miss the world and these characters when you're not reading.

I’ve seen lots of reviews commenting on how they don’t like Kathe Koja’s writing style.

It reminds me of Raymond Chandler and Dashiel Hammett, early 20th C hard boiled detective fiction. It’s heavy on vibes and atmosphere. Either you dig it or you don’t. I Love it.

I read this for the first time back in the late 1900s when it first came out, and it hit me like a a brick. Returning to it as an older, slower version of the young man who was so taken with the intensity of it at the time.

I remember this as a book about bodies and obsession and art, industrial tools and metal fabrication, love, bodies in motion, violence, and bleeding flesh.

Grimy, terse, jagged, extremely Nine Inch Nails Broken EP… I love Kathe Koja so much, nobody writes grungy horror this uncomfortable.
