Marino calls everyone squirrels for some reason

A refreshing description of men and their lust written by a woman. Also she drops another plot bomb on us, reveals another card...

Unimpressed with Boltz misogynistic language in reference to reporter and that he thinks it's all about him rejecting her, the ego and the misogyny!

Omg she's given her ten year old niece another glass of wine! She said she doesn't do this regularly the first time she did it but we're up to twice now, I'm sure the alcoholism is settling in at this point

Cornwell is also very good at not showing her hand all at once

It's interesting how they already discussed how the biggest reporter problem is a woman, yet they still default to 'him' when discussing a possible reporter involved. Patricia Cornwell has done an excellent job of emphasizing the boys club Kay is up against

Kay's boss is mansplaining how 911 calls work in tiresome detail, this is probably for the benefit of the reader but these information dumps are excessive

This receptionist just called her Mrs Scarpetta though she is not currently married

Caught this very wrong claim that John Wayne Gacy murdered his mother and put her down garbage disposal, I knew it wasn't true as soon as I read it, it's weird that this claim is made, was conflated with another serial killer and no one caught the mistake

Perfect description of sociopath, tho prevalence percentage is prob higher now

so far i’m enjoying this book. i’m hoping it continues to be great and the ending be well wrote.

(this is not a genre i’d typically read, however this might be a great exception!)

I also I understand why he'd be annoyed she didn't agree with his theory but I don't why he's all upset about this smell discussion

Merino is a smoker, I doubt he'd smell anything anyway

Agatha Christie reference

Scarpetta openly referencing and appreciating queer literary icons like Truman Capote and Tennessee Williams
