One can feel the dishonesty just oozing through the prose.

Definitely written with both eyes on the prize -- Parole.
Throws his deceased partner-in-crime, Richard Loeb under the bus early on.
Carefully, painstakingly crafted. Restrained. One can see and hear the gears meshing beneath the prose. The about-the-author blurb on the back breathlessly lists all of Leopold's accomplishments since being sent to prison.
In spite of everything, it's not a bad read so far.
