this one was almost there for me. like you can tell kirby is allllmost making a point about gender. but it doesn't work out, leaving this another unfortunately sexist piece of silver age comic history. all too prevalent, but it comes with the times i suppose

Eternals Annual #1
fun one off issue that kept the pace for the full 35 pages, which is more than can be said for some annuals. some much needed characterization for karkas and the reject, who both rule. love them and thena as a trio they are maybe my top characters in this book (we do love sersi though)

this is a fun story and all and it ties into several of the things i find most interesting about this series (in particular, kirby's portrayal of existential fear among unknowable terrors and the tension inherent in the emergence of a race of immortal humanoids) but i just can't get over the fact that the story was SO sidelined for this. we were in the middle of something!
