Status Updates From Going Bovine

Oddly enough, Cameron has become a surprisingly simple protagonist that he has a mission. All of his sarcasm and, honestly, personality has completely faded away. He's beginning to feel like just every other protagonist.

Is the author doing this to show that he's willing to be serious to save his life? Or am I just reaching the stages in the book where everything begins to lose its initial interest.

Still a fun book, but the sarcasm and everything else has significantly diminished after a long, relatable, and ridiculous first act.

Gonzo is going on this trip way too willingly... or is there something to him?
