sense and sensibility so boring i need a break

I'm enjoying the story but Machado's footnotes are really aggravating me. They either tell the obvious (the river reflecting red is like blood? groundbreaking) or insert such a smarmy interpretation (if this isn't an orgasm, I don't know what is) that I'm irritated each time I come across one. (I unfortunately read too quickly to ignore them.) One even spoiled the entire book! Will have to buy another edition one day

His niece Rheinfeldt? Did Stoker outright steal the name Renfield? Bram is becoming more questionable as I read along.
