The author is saying that companies should be doing lots of things, and sometimes gives a why, but none of it seems to be backed with any data, research, surveys, interviews, or anything. His references are just other people who said the same thing in other books, who I know also didn't make any sort of scientific notation.

This author could benefit from reading, They Say I Say. He references a book, lists some facts about it, but doesn't go into enough detail in the reference to link it to his discussion so the reader can relate it to the supposed topic of the book. I've read several of the books referenced, but still don't see how he's adding value to the text by referring to them. It's like he's saving it for later, but shouldn't.
