i did absolutely forget the abuse, gang life and prison story lines
again why did my bigot cousin recommend this book to me when i was like 11

i remember the backyard scene between danny and liberty so so so vividly even though i read this book in 2012

there is a lot to say about this book and my cousin who is a bigot recommending it to me
1) it makes me mourn the version of her that could have been if she just stayed in school because it seemed to be getting the bigotry out of her
2) this god subplot that has been mentioned twice… maybe she was and will be a bigot always

now hang on will this turn religious? i don’t recall this being religious

uno is being so weirdly jealous of someone who is the COUSIN of the girl he likes

I like how the book jumps from person to person since the book is in third person. i’ve gotten danny’s thoughts on why he wants to stop being this perfect person in front of his hispanic side, and how uno is struggling to fit in and act right too, especially how his parents are always fighting.

i chose this quote because it reminds me of me and my friends when we go to a funk or do sumthing like that the quote is 'look at your cuz carman says he look all nice tonight the girls gonna gobble him up'
