As I read this in between my wheelin’ & dealin’ across Texas (I really feel like a cowboy, it’s very fun), I keep thinking that if there was another D-Day this is the one place where young guys would still fight — neither for Europe a third time nor even for the US, but for Texas. While it isn’t home, there’s nowhere else quite as genuine, optimistic, and proud to be of the West

Starts off like the planning for Operation Overlord… or a reality show:
- Ike is anxious, downing packs of cigs
- Patton is on timeout in a corner
- Monty has an inferiority complex and throws tantrums
- De Gaulle thinks he should be in-charge
- Nobody can find Churchill, who is in the tub with a cigar in one hand and brandy in the other
- Fritz is getting different messages of where the party will be
