A tale of the French teenagers that accidentally discovered the largest circuit of cave paintings in the world during the occupation of Paris. They are not deeply invested in the paintings but moreso concerned about the changes taking place in their bodies- who has the largest penis or most hair on their chests?

“A genius has no interest in controlling people with anything so crude as power. The artist has true power. The intellectual may hunger for power as his ideas prove to be weak, but he is for the most part content to live in his mind.”

I like having a book to read on the train to work, but there are so many references to songs and paintings that I can’t go through this without a search engine nearby

"Tolstoy was at Yasnaya Polyana, eighty and bearded and in peasant dress, out walking, no doubt, in those thin birch groves under a white sky where the sense of the north is a sharp and distant quiet, an intuition shared with the wolf and the owl of the emptiness of the earth."

Davenport's style is really really cool; doubtless he pulls it off even easier w people like me who haven't heard of Vladimir Tatlin, nor've ever cared to learn the names of the teenagers who stumbled across the enormous toros of Lascaux - ah - the airFIELDS of Brescia, Kafka, Wittgenstein.
