- “You go in for a lot of ifs, buts and maybes.” True that! There’s a huge amount of speculation in this case. Luke is literally leaping to a conclusion with basically no actual evidence.
- “And, up to now, my job’s always been to prove someone’s guilty of something. With these two cases, I’m trying to prove someone’s innocent.” The tables have certainly turned!

- "Short of writing 'This is the work of Everton Kohter' all over the wall in the victim's blood, your mate's guilty." Yikes, this is a tough one!
- "You're a dreamer, Luke... But I like you for it." What cruel fate is this? Either the Pairing Committee will reject his request to be paired with Jade OR it'll grant his request and then he'll have to prove they're guilty of corruption. It's a lose-lose!

- I know I just started a new book but I've literally been craving a murder mystery and can't get this book out of my mind.
- Aah love me a new mystery. Dead body and all! Bonus: this is 2 mysteries in 1. It's yet to be seen if they turn out to be connected.
- I remember partly how the Everton Kohter mystery is solved but nothing about the Pairing Committee illicit pairing one so this should be a good reread.
