... By 2000, the majority of people in the United States lived around central cities, not in them. Mover's reasons varied widely. One key reason concerned the desire to flee- from city people, from city "problems", and/or from paying for public programs to address those problems.... I call it the "moating and gating of suburban America" or the "Yes, you can run and hide" syndrome.
