Status Updates From 沉淪

The sin of yesterday evening was a faint recollection now, just like the im- age of some sail far out at sea, —he didn't know where it had disappeared to.

His homesickness (nostalgia) for the metropolis had never been so profound as on that night.

"My homeland does not have stunningly beautiful mountains and rivers? My homeland does not have pretty girls like flowers? Why did I bother coming to this island nation in the East Sea?"

While he just stood there, absorbed, looking out into the distance blankly, he heard a cough, and he noticed a peasant behind him suddenly. Turning his head to see, the smiling look on his face turned into a dejected expression, as if his smiling would have frightened someone.

Reciting verse like this made him unconsciously be-gin to laugh faintly. Looking around, in every direction, he noticed the sun had already started to set; on the other side of a large field, on the western horizon, was a tall mountain, and floating there, absorbing what remained of the day's light, was a layer of misty, hazy air, as if brewing, reflecting a kind of purplish-reddish color.
