I can appreciate the influence Journey to the Center of the Earth has had on adventure and science fiction, but it wasn’t a book I enjoyed. The premise is creative, and some of the underground discoveries were interesting, but the pacing was extremely slow and the outdated language made it difficult to follow. It took far too long for the story to get moving.
