Old authors are like, "obvs if you are reading my work, you are highly educated and I don't need to translate these quotes from French, Latin, German, or Greek."

You can tell when basic literacy for the masses wasn't really a thing. Either you read 4 languages or you read nothing.

So far: I love this book!!! I love the celebration of people forming societies, noticing patterns, and the absolute celebration of nature itself. The mild sarcastic treatment of each "unique" religion is funny but not hurtful. Sadly, though, I have to put it on hold. I have so many books and so little time before BookCon!!
