Status Updates From Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell

Okay, I think I’ve lost the thread of what the plot/motivation is. If the point is that Mr. Norrell is dull and uninteresting despite being a very accomplished magician, I get it. Now, like the rest of England, I want to be amazed in spite of that.

This book is pretty interesting. Mr. Norrell wants to bring back magic to England and there's some varying sucess. He has to navigate "high" society with help from numerous people (servants and "friends" and scholars and the GOVERNMENT). I've yet to actually meet Jonathan Strange yet as a character but the foot notes include him as like.. a magician student under Norrell.
