because why would he care about what some literal infant thinks. he decides everything for her, he controls everyone, he is one of the most powerful being on earth and he acts like one (asshole). it's great from the perspective of the reader, it's a better portrayal of such old character however for the romance... for the romance you really need to be equals, otherwise it leaves a bad taste. they already discussed(2)

you know I've been thinking about all these books with 300+ years age gap and it truly stuck me as something so unnatural, cause imagine dating human 100 y o in your 20s (i don't mean physical appearance obv). raphael is exactly what i think this centuries old creatures should be like in every book, he is arrogant all powerful being, not caring about what elena thinks and feels, not caring about her choices (1)
