Recent calls of catholicity need to be qualified. This book shows how ecumenism or unity lead to compromise. Catholicity is only achieved when it is founded on right doctrine (primary doctrines) - a unity in the answer of “what is a Christian”.

Fascinating history. Toxic empathy in the form of ecumenicism is why liberalism was given a hearing amoung evangelicals. So thankful to be a Congregationalist after reading the absolute failures of evangelical anglicans to call out liberalism.

The recent calls for catholicity with Roman Catholics and Eastern Ortho’s sound eerily familiar. JI packer’s compromise with Anglo-Catholics in the 70’s is tragic. Martyn Lloyd Jones held the line!
