Status Updates From Northanger Abbey

isabella and john thorpe getting on my nervesssss

“Catherine began to feel something of disappointment - she was tired of being continually pressed against by people, the generality of whose faces possessed nothing of interest” Catherine would hate clubbing

to no one's surprise I hate both love interests

1. jane austen being able to make these moments fill chapters and chapters & make them engaging is truly a feat
2. omfg the thorpes are so much more annoying in the book LEAVE CATHERINE ALONE
3. and wow guys picking u up in their cars/carriages to “show u a spot” has existed since the dawn of time

Reading this with my daughter- she has to read a Classic for her 9th grade honors project and I’be realized I haven’t read this one yet! So we’re reading it at the same time and comparing notes!

Enjoying this one so much! I think this will reign as my favorite Austen after I’ve finished it!!
