The Ascetic Ideal
The ascetic priest is a comforter of human suffering. He offers an explanation for that suffering, making the sickness easier to bear; he gives meaning to it.

This meaning may be quite false, but this does not detract from from its power to comfort the sufferer. What does the priest reply to his "flock's" complaints?

It is on the soil of priestly existence that some of the finest creations of the human intellect have blossomed

For all the disdain that he shows towards priestly authority and the so-called "slave morality" Nietzsche gives credit to them in his own little special way.

Certainly, our thought will attempt to shape the phenomena as they appear (producing a human view of the world), but Nietzsche insists that we do not take this product of our efforts as having any objective status of its own. Hence, "there are no moral phenomena"

The Jews are beyond all doubt the strongest, toughest, and purest race at present living Europe.

Nietzsche praised many Jewish artists that in his estimation had reached the status of genius, but of Jewish morality, along with Christianity, he criticized severely.

Interesting that Nietzsche couldn't detach himself entirely from the topic of metaphysics as we see below

It is true, there could be a metaphysical world; the absolute possibility of it is hardly to be disputed. We behold all things through the human head and cannot cut off this head; while the question nonetheless remains what of the world would still be there if one had cut it off.
