eric is in the hospital, genevie broke up with sheridan, he’s apologizing now and telling her what happened. let’s see how this goes.

I thought this was gonna be like a religious book from the prologue but this has been really sweet so far.

“I remember seeing you in that theater back in the fall. How we spoke briefly and how I couldn’t stop thinking about you. I needed a friend so badly at that time. I never expected you’d be that friend. That you’d be so much more.”

“You know, I still think about him from time to time. I still wonder where he is, what he’s up to, what he looks like, and all that. Memories don’t ever go away, and I believe that some feelings never completely go away either. We just grow older and distance ourselves from childhood loves.”
“I wish I felt a little less old and a lot more distant from mine.”

Erik: Just so you know.........Amy’s father didn’t beat you up
Sheridan: What???
Erik: It was a drug dealer I refused to pay
Sheridan: Are you sure??????

All I had told him was one thing: “You’ve got a lot of people who care about you.” I’m not sure if those words meant anything to him, but they were the sort I wish I had heard many years ago, after the accident, when I had felt so alone.

I always liked the bit in the book which has Sheridan very bluntly pointing out how his privilege coming from a wealthy family kept him from going to jail

Jdjdjjfjfjfjf he really saw a dirty pile of snow and thought “that’s me”

Sheridan: Beginning to think I’ve not handled this whole trauma of my past mistakes thing well at all lads

Sheridan: [gets randomly beat up] I deserved it tbh

Sheridan’s uncle referenced his alcoholism vaguely and Sheridan is like PLZ DO NOT........

Gen looked up at me with her open gaze. “You don’t have to look far. I think everyone needs help sooner or later in life. You just have to take the time to find them.” She paused for a second. “And they have to be willing to accept it.”

Sheridan takes time on Thanksgiving to call Genevie and tell her he’s thankful they met :’)

Years ago, I had more hopes and aspirations, more music inside me than this ten-year-old could possibly dream of. They had all disappeared in one night. A bleak night that lingered, darkening my life for so many years.
Now maybe, just maybe, the shadows of that night were finally shrinking back enough for me to rediscover those dreams.
