Years after reading these pages for the first time, re-entering them reminds one of the elegance of Pynchon's intellect; a place wherein the complexity of thought is so rigorously explored that it evokes that old maxim by Heraclitus: "No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it's not the same river and he's not the same man." Each sentence allows for a constant flux in the conversation that is reading.

The part about how maybe the Dodo wouldn’t have been driven to extinction if they could talk and be saved by Christian missionaries is the peak of the novel so far.
