I didn't read a page. I just want to preface by saying I'm only going to read the section on Melville.

Reading now on an American Indian former confederate soldier who was working as a mercenary for the Sultan. Interesting. Also interesting that many American military advisors and former Indian fighters were working for the Egyptians as the Egyptians were trying to expand south into the Sudan and do to the Africans (including Nubians?) as was done to the Indians.
