I love Bonhoeffer’s works but it is intense theology, at least for me. It must be studied not just read. Walker’s book here makes his work in contemporary language and easier for understanding. Metaxas authored a superb biography of Bonhoeffer which got me started on him.

A repeatedly emphasized point is the vitality of the law--not as a random list of rules, but as something meant to hone and shape *desire*

I like the commentary in this book but I really wish the author would stop using the MSG version of verses… it’s a personal issue but it’s so distracting to me
