sammy keyes was a series i respected when i was a kid because i felt it had a healthy dose of realism (esp. the portrayal of a kid in an unstable environment) alongside the fun mystery-adventure that has always been my favorite sort of story.. plus i can read the books in 1-2 sittings and i still remember remember much of the characters and plots fondly :')

To be 100% honest, I hardly paid attention throughout this story. From the bits & pieces I do remember, this all took place in 1 weekend? If so, understandable it flew by so fast.
Now... this was more so for character development; Sammy and her friends are beginning to grow up, learn how the world is seen from others their age that live differently. Rich, poor, homeless, drug, etc.
Middle school is so complicated.
