finally something exciting (is that the right word?) but i bet he lives cause in a story like this ofc he does

also the voucher talk and whatnot ughhh “i chose my fight” girly you’re tackling so much so poorly! everything is so unbelievable EYE ROLL EYE ROLL! suddenly she knows perfect english and picks a fight with a girl in a gang and it goes well. vommmm

also if everything else wasn’t enough the author constantly has nora under sexual threat. it all just cheapens the story for me

i hate how the author writes some characters dialogue. also is the gang subplot necessary???? why are the just working and not looking for her dad? why does she want to be flora’s friend so bad?

i hate how the author talks about black people in this book and also is it truly necessary? “i want to touch her hair” PLEASE unless we are gonna address that community with the respect we expect for ours i’d rather not see it.
don’t understand this flora subplot (oe where all this money is coming from) overall not a fan tbh. amatuer writing obvious plots and everything works out too perfectly

the writing is very amature and the chapters are very short. it reminds me of another book i loved as a young girl i just can’t remember it (it was better than this one, so far) but two lines stuck out to me so far
“a promise is just a lie you don’t want to tell”
“i was trying to stay a little girl, even though womanhood sprouted out of me in a new way every day”
