Fascinating and paradigm-shaking… but quite frustrating in places, as paragraphs don’t quite manage to demonstrate some of the tempting (or merely emotive — “certainly the middle classes of non-metropolitan Britain experienced savage change to their lifestyle with the rise of evangelical culture”, p.40, which is silly and not actually borne out by the rest of the section) headline claims CG makes.
