Reading the biographies of great people (Sonja, Vera, Najdorf) inspire me to live more. Sonja is especially inspiring; I wish I could be an ‘artist of life’ myself and to want ‘all life’s stimuli’

Surprised at how many female players seemingly hold sexist views (especially Susan Pulgar!). Also found it strange how many male players think about sex while playing...Some of the explanations provided by armchair psychologists for the differences between males and females in chess were cartoonish at best, especially those that attempted a Freudian interpretation. Really enjoy how unfiltered the book has been so far
